Training load monitoring software

Record how hard each session felt to each athlete and turn that into a figure you can compare week to week. That is training load monitoring, and it is what Training Feel automates for coaches and strength staff.

What training load is

Load is how much work an athlete accumulates, and duration alone is not enough: an hour in the gym and an hour of match play do not weigh the same. So duration is multiplied by the intensity the athlete perceived. The result is a figure in arbitrary units that can be added up, compared across very different sessions and plotted across a season.

How perceived effort is recorded

When the session ends, the athlete rates how hard it felt from 0 to 10 on the Borg CR-10 scale. It takes seconds on their phone. The number comes from whoever trained, not from whoever planned the session, and that is where the value is: two players who did exactly the same work may have experienced it very differently, and that difference is precisely what matters.

From spreadsheet to software

A spreadsheet works with five athletes. With twenty, the problem stops being the arithmetic and becomes collection: who logged, who is missing, which day came out empty. Software solves that on its own. Athletes log from their phones and the coach sees the whole squad, up to date, without chasing anyone or merging files by hand.

What shows up once the data is together

With sessions logged, things appear that a spreadsheet never shows: the real shape of the microcycle, which day weighed more than it looked, which athlete is accumulating more load than the rest, and how the relationship moves between this week's work and the past month's average.

Frequently asked questions

What is internal training load?
It is session duration multiplied by the effort the athlete perceived. It is expressed in arbitrary units and lets you compare very different types of session with each other.
Does it work for any sport?
Yes. The perceived effort method depends on neither the sport nor any sensor, which is why it is used in both team and individual sports.
Do I need a heart rate monitor or GPS?
No. Perception-based load monitoring works without any device: the athlete just answers when the session ends. If you also have GPS data it can be added, but it is not a requirement to start.
How long does it take an athlete?
About a minute a day: one effort rating when the session ends and four wellness questions.
